In terms of things you need to know about your attendance at court, the following may provide some useful information:
At which court will my jury service take place?
Details of the court you have to attend will be sent to you before your jury service takes place. You will also be sent information about how to get there and the courts facilities.
What time should I arrive at court?
Details of when to arrive at court will be sent to you before your service.
What if I am late?
Please allow plenty of time for your journey to court each day. Many people are employed in the trial, and any delays are costly. But if you are running late, please call your Jury Officer as soon as possible.
What should I wear?
There is no strict dress code but you will be sitting down for a long time, so wear clothes that you feel comfortable in. Smart casual dress is acceptable.
What do I need to bring with me?
You need to bring your summons. You may want to bring something to read as you might spend a lot of time in the Jury Assembly Area waiting to go in to the Court.
Can I bring someone with me?
It is recommended that you don’t unless they are there to assist you – see the Special Needs section. You won’t be able to be with them during the day, except possibly at lunchtime, and you aren’t allowed to talk to them at all about the trial you are a juror on.
What facilities are there for people with special needs?
Most courts have full facilities for people with special needs. However, please contact the Jury Officer at your court to let them know in advance if you have special needs. Details of how to contact the Jury Officer will be available on your jury summons.
