Juvenile Justice Centre
If a magistrate imposes a custodial sentence, the young person will normally be taken to the Juvenile Justice Centre at Bangor. The Centre provides young people referred to it with a safe and secure environment to help reduce their offending behaviour by making a positive contribution to their knowledge, life skills and experience.
There is a strong focus on education and enhancing young people’s attainments. A range of programmes exist designed to address the causes of offending behaviour including victim awareness, anger management, substance abuse, as well as cognitive skills behaviour therapy and the Impact car theft prevention initiative.
