Release or remand?

You will normally be released on bail, except in cases where you are considered a risk to the public or for certain offences. If the court decides that you should be remanded in custody, the magistrate must give reasons in court for doing this. In this case, you will probably be remanded to the Juvenile Justice Centre in Bangor.

If you plead not guilty, a date will be set for your trial when the magistrate will hear all the evidence and decide whether or not you are guilty. If the decision is ‘guilty’, the magistrate will decide on the most appropriate sentence.
